History
Purchased by the City of Toppenish in 1914, the first burials took place in the early 1920's.
The Elmwood Cemetery is the final resting place for many of the City's founding fathers.

The City offers a beautiful memorial garden where family and friends can donate a plant in memory of their loved one. The City plants each plant and provides the care and maintenance of the garden April thru September. Elmwood Cemetery Information
The following is an overview of Elmwood's Policies & Procedures.
General
- No planting of any kind
- March 16-October 31st: Cut flowers only. No artificial flowers permitted
- November 1 - March 15: Artificial flowers allowed
- Grounds are mowed on Wednesday & Thursday
- Grounds are watered daily April thru September
Headstones
- Temporary markers are included with the cost of the plot. Markers are set within 5 days from burial, April thru September and weather permitting October thru March
- Only one headstone per grave
- the headstone must fit within the plot
- Permanent headstones are set from April to September only. Headstones are set within 30 days from delivery of installation charges have been paid
- Headstone foundations are guaranteed for one year from date of placement (vandalism excluded)
- Broken headstones or foundations are replaced or repaired at the owner's expense
Plot Selection
- Plots are sold on first come basis
- Cremations and infant plots are sold in sequential order (1,2,3,4, etc)
Plot and Burial Costs
- Plot and interment fees must be paid two days prior to burial
- Plots may be purchased in advance. Interment costs are paid at least two days prior to interment services being performed by the City.
